Review: MUA Cosmetics Love Hearts Polish

MUA Love Hearts Nail Varnish

£2.00

6.8ml

I’ve been on a bit of a mad MUA hauling session recently. As I usually shop in boots, I never came across MUA Cosmetics because they’re only available in Superdrug. I heard about them from a few reviews that I came across on some beauty blogs and I just had to try them out. With their low prices and great quality, I just couldn’t help but buy everything!

I went down there today to get some eyelash glue, they didn’t have what I wanted (-.-) so I just ended up spending a few quid on MUA Cosmetics instead! Which isn’t a bad thing. They have a small ‘Love Hearts’ range which are a few nail polishes and some lip balm tubs. The nail polishes come in six colours and are all pastel shades. I chose the Yellow and one of the Purples.

With one coat.

With two coats.

The packaging is so cute! They’re small bottles and with a capacity of only 6.8ml they’re one of the smallest polishes I own. That doesn’t bother me too much, though, because who really gets to the end of a nail polish before it goes funny? They have the Love Hearts logo across the bottle and a Love Hearts sticker on the top. Along with the pastel colours, they look quite nice!

The product itself, to me, just seems like any other nail polish, which is good! It goes on smoothly and the colour is great, very vibrant. Two coats seem to do the trick for an even coverage with full colour definition.  It dries relatively fast, too. No problems!

The only thing I’m having a slight issue with is the brush. It doesn’t appear to be shaped too well so it makes applying the polish a little difficult. Sometimes leaves streaks on the nails, but a second coat usually clears it up. I could have just bought a bad bottle, as only the yellow one has a frayed brush, though.

It may have just been a bad batch but this brush is a little frayed!
This brush isn't too bad, I haven't tried it properly yet, though.

  • Adorable packaging.
  • Great colour choices, I love pastel shades!
  • Product is great, very smooth and dries quite quickly!

  • My only issue is with the shape of the brush. It’s a shame, I hope they get this feedback and update their polishes!

Absolutely! There are 6 colours in the range and I plan on buying them all! Only 4 left to collect. :)

Swatch: MUA Glamour Days Palette

As mentioned in this post I bought two new eyeshadow palettes the other day, and here's the swatches for one of them, the other one was swatched here.

My reviews on the MUA brand is spoken about in the other palettes' post so I'll just do the swatches for this palette here.

As with the other MUA palette, each shade doesn't have it's own name so I've just labelled them as top row and bottom.

 Top row.

Bottom row.

These were taken with natural light and are very shimmery. Again, with a primer they come out a lot more but for a simple look I think they do quite fine!

Simple palette for simple looks. Definitely worth a look into at just £4.00 a palette!

What's your view on MUA cosmetics?

This week on Instagram!

As I'm sure you're probably aware, I missed last weeks Instagram post! I found myself stuck between being a little bit busy and a little bit lazy. I've also spent the majority of the past few weeks either working at my new job or playing video games. I've gotten myself addicted to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 again, and I bought Skyrim yesterday too!
So expect less and less of me as I play video games obsessively!

As you can imagine, two weeks worth of Instagram uploads is a lot! There's a massive 24 pictures for you to glare at, in one spectacular post!

If you'd like to follow me on Instragram my username is Taylalatbh or Click Here to add me.

New earrings I bought. Crosses, simple enough!

My outfit for my first day of work. Too much black is boring!

New work shoes. I thought I could handle slight heels but my feet ached after a few hours!

That's right, I work at Next!

Another set of lashes came in the mail. I LOVE these.

Got myself a little bedroom friend. Alfie having a little sleep.

Those new lashes I bought (pictured above, basic make up).

The picture doesn't do it justice but there was a massive spider on my ceiling. I had to throw a shoe at it!

Yes! Rollercoaster Tycoon 2! Obsessing over this.

Before bed-time friend! He came for a little cuddle before we went to bed.

(aren't I just obsessed with my new pup?) Alfie's been playing in the garden, covered in mud!

Pretty Tilly chilling with her belly out! Aww.

Tilly again. My morning companion while I got myself ready for work.

Wearing that dress again for work. Hair up this time :)

I changed from those heels to these ultra comfortable flats. Cute little ankle boots. I should have taken those socks off though!

ANOTHER new set of lashes! These are bottom ones. I haven't managed to get these on right yet, though. I need more practice!

Me being scruffy. Wearing my boyfriends jumper. Me love cookies.

Left some make up on the windowsill. It melted a little bit.

Simple work make up. Blue!

My cute little Hello Kitty watch I got for my birthday. Aww!

Mini make up haul this week. All this for under £15. Check out THIS POST for more info!

My confirmation letter came through. Starting my Japanese night course in October!

Took Alfie out for a ride in the car to go and see my nan. He LOVED hanging out the window. He looks like a polar bear. Aww.

Yay, I bought Skyrim for PC. Been playing non-stop.
Sort of eventful week this week. Work related things, a few games and some cosmetic pictures! I hope I didn't disappoint.

Impromptu Shopping Haul!

I went into Superdrug a few days ago before work (yeah, new job!) and managed to spend around £15 on NYC and MUA cosmetics in about 5 minutes before my shift started.

I picked up five nail polishes, 2 blushers and a lipstick/gloss. And yes, I got all this for £14.96! I'll end up doing a few in depth reviews on a few of these items in the upcoming weeks, so look out for that.

I've heard a lot of good things about the MUA Mosaic Blusher. It was only £2.50 so that's pretty good, I'm really excited to road test it tomorrow. I bought it in 'English Rose - Shade 3', though they do have another two lovely shades in the nice mosaic pattern.

The other MUA Blusher was only a pound so I thought I'd pick one of those up too. I got this one in 'shade 2'. It's a kind of pinky shade. I looks like it matches up to one of the sections in the mosaic one.

The other MUA product was the Lip Boom. I don't quite know why this one attracted me so much. It might just be because it has 'boom' in the title. It's a full lip stick with a reasonably size gloss on the other end of the tube. They can be worn separately or together. After trying the lippy though, I think the shade is a little dark for me. So I'm very tempted to go and get another one. This was £3.

I bought two NYC 'In a New York Minute' nail polishes. 'Manhattan' and 'Prince Street'. A kind of deep red/purple and a metallic purple, respectively. These were £1.79 each or two for around £2.50. *Multibuy* :D

Lastly, I bought three NYC 'Expert Last' polishes at £1.99 each. 'Late Night Latte', 'Lights-Camera-Glitter' and 'Gramercy Glitz'. A nude shade, a nude coloured glitter and a silvery, blue glitter, respectively.

All in all, really happy with my haul. Might go back in when I have a bit more time and spend some more money, why not!

Again, keep your eyes open for a review or two, and a close up of a few of these items.

Have you tried any of these before? What did you think?

Swatch: MUA Poptastic Palette

As mentioned in this post I bought two new eyeshadow palettes the other day, and here's the swatches for one of them, (the other to come).

I'm relatively new to MUA as a brand. I've known about it for a while but I haven't tried any of their products. I've been meaning to get a few more eyeshadow colours recently but didn't really want to break the bank while doing so. At a mere £4.00 per palette I couldn't really go wrong with this one!

This palette is called Poptastic, probably due to it's bright colours and shimmery shades. All MUA palettes this size come with a double-ended sponge brush which is very handy. There's a great selection of colours in this palette, great for a bright evening look or if you're just feeling adventurous.

The shades don't come with specific names so I've just swatched them as the top and bottom row.

 Top row.

Bottom row.

These are both taken using natural light and on my forearm (which is quite pale!). The colours show even more when using a primer, especially for the lighter shades, such as the yellows. There are a few more shimmery shades and a few matte ones combined in this palette so it's easy to create different looks.

If you're looking for a palette with bright, pigmented colours then you should definitely try this one. At only £4.00, you'd be a fool not to!

Keep your eyes peeled for the swatches of the other MUA palette I bought, 'Glamour Days'.

Have you tried any MUA cosmetics?
